Hallmarking
Hallmarking Dealer's Notice
Any pieces with a total metal weight of over 7.78g must be Hallmarked by The London Assay Office and our product listings will notify you of this should they exceed that weight. The majority of our pieces are below this weight and do not require a hallmark although we will mark them with a 925 stamp to signify they are sterling silver, however we are still required to display the Dealer's Notice.
One of the requirements of the Hallmarking Act 1973 is that all dealers supplying precious metal jewellery (or other items made of precious metal) shall display a notice explaining the approved hallmarks.
This must be the notice produced by the British Hallmarking Council (BHC) as shown below.
